Making the time for yourself!

I wanted to write about something I feel very strongly about. Moms have a habit of putting everyone first. Your schedule is around school and nap times, you meals are planned around what your husband or children might like or what you have time for after taking care of the kids. I think it is very important to take some time for yourself.

I try and give myself 1 hour everyday that is my time. It's true that during this time I exercise. I know this isn't everyone's idea of a good time, but it makes me feel good about myself like nothing else can. When I spend time relaxing on the couch, I just feel more tired and lazy. When I workout, I have more confidence and energy afterwords.

The difference on the days I do workout and the ones I don't are big. I feel the need to snack more when I don't workout. I get more done on the days I workout too. I'm just plain happier and have much more patience for my children.

At this point in my life, I have two kids home all day who take seperate naps, so, when one is napping, the other gets cartoon time. It is generally the only time I let her watch cartoons so she loves it and sometimes she will even come exercise with me. It's more like running in circle around me while laughing.

Today, I am busy. I am preparing my house for guests this weekend, I had to go to the store, and I am putting on a parade tomorrow that had alot of work needing done! Yet, I still manage to cook dinner and get a workout in, and I feel great. I know that if I just keep making it a priority not only will I get healthier, but I will be more productive and easier to be around.

If this sound like you, try and set a goal for yourself to keep you going. My current goal is to lose a certain amount by Vegas, which is now 6.5 weeks aways! What's your goal? How are you going to make tiem for yourself?
